Former Ghana striker Tony Yeboah insists Asamoah Gyan acted in an infantile manner when he was stripped of the captaincy.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt and Leeds United forward mentioned that the pertinent thing is having a solid team and is not about captaincy.
“Retiring from national team because of captaincy purely shows immaturity and unprofessionalism. Being a good captain or not doesn’t win anything. The most important thing is having a good team,” Yeboah declared on Atinka FM.
“In our time,I must confess the captaincy issues really affected the team (Ghana), without that captaincy misunderstanding, I can say it on authority, Ghana would have won the AFCON.”
Ghana who are chasing their fifth AFCON title will battle Guinea Bissau, Cameroon and Benin in Group F of the 2019 AFCON.
