Wormane Street Art African Wear Festival is a yearly street african wear festival celebrated every year at Korle Gonno in the Greater Accra Region. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the toil of our fore fathers, their way of life, their lifestyle, the food they eat way back, the clothes they worn and how they suffered to gain the land that they(People Of Korle Gonno) are residing now.

The program is  mainly hosted by Native Tribe in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, Chief Of Korle Gonno,”Nii Tackie Owuowuo, Member Of Parliament  for Ablekuma South Constituency,”Hon Alfred Oko Vanderpuije and the Assembly  Man for Korle Gonno Electoral Area.

It was a four days program which made way for exhibitors, food vendors, pub owners, artists, comedians, skaters, riders and people from all walks of lives to come around to exhibit, buy sell and have fun in the African wear celebration.

On the fourth day of the program which was on the 23rd September, 2019, Ayitey Powers who is known to be a boxer hanged his gloves to performed one of his hit songs”Kpookeke” under the stands mounted by Amanie Fm to entertain, educate, inform and acknowledge exhibitors, vendors and sponsors for the Wormane African Wear Festival.

“He stated that music been the food of the soul should be played by everybody not only music makers or music lovers only”.Stressing on why he added music to his career, he said he believes in music and plays music during his leisure or any time he is driving to training or on the streets of Accra.

Further, he advised the youth and the general public not to focus on what people says but rather focus on what we are doing now to better our lives tomorrow for the near future.

He advised the crowd to keep supporting all boxers in Ghana especially the ‘amateur boxers’ who are now coming up, as he believes they are what the country have now and our little push and support will help them raise the flag of Ghana high.
