Some Kindergarten schools in Accra have been selected to participate in the 5th edition of this years Independence Day celebration on Wednesday 4th March, 2020.
The ceremony which is being organized by the Accra Metro Education Directorate under the auspices of the Ghana Education Service has been scheduled to take place at the Accra Academy ceremonial park in the Okaikoi-South Sub-Metro at exactly 8am.
The involvement of the Kindergarten schools in the Independence Day Celebration would help propel the young ones to a greater heights in the near future.
In an exclusive interview with the coordinator of the Early Childhood Division at Accra Metro, Madam. Elsie Juliet Van Dyck stated that the motive behind the march-pass was to expose the children to the current happenings in the country.
“During 6th March, we select some Junior and Senior high schools for the march pass and most of these kindergarten kids are always at home watching on television. We want these kids to have the experience and the exposure so that in the near future, whenever some of them are called upon to march, they can do so”. She stated.
“Whenever you expose these children to some of these important national activities, they are always happy and feel not isolated. So we have included these kids for the celebrations in order for them to know they have not been left out. We have taught these children the importance of the Independence Day and it is really helping”. Mad. Elsie Juliet Van Dyck hinted.
The coordinator finally added that they encountered a lot of challenges in organizing such events for the children and appealed to cooperate Ghana to come on board.
The Accra Metro Education director Mr. Stephen Abamfo and his front-liners, the Head of administration at Accra Academy, Member of Parliaments for both Ablekuma South, Okaikoi South and Ashiedu Keteke and other top dignitaries are all expected to grace the occasion.
Aside the march pass, the various schools will participate in activities such as choreography,Drama and Cadet. The best marched or well behaved school will be awarded with some products and souvenirs as a way of motivation.
The event is being sponsored by Confidence Bakery with support from some Individuals of Good Shepherd Methodist Church (North Kaneshie) and Rotary Club (Ridge Chapter).
