Asante Kotoko clears $240,000 debt over Clottey with Esperance

Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko are reported to have settled the $240,000 debt that has been hanging in their neck following the transfer of Emmanuel Clottey.

Kotoko illegally registered Clottey when he was still a player of Esperance of Tunisia.

This resulted in a total fine of $ 240,000 from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

Dr. Kwame Kyei, Executive Board Chairman of Kotoko promised to settle the debt to prevent Kotoko from facing the wrath of FIFA.

True to his promise Dr. Kyei has settled the debt as at the close of business on April 28, 2020.

The payment is in a form of loan and Kotoko is expected to refund it to Dr. Kyei.

The Porcupines Warriors were given 30 days to settle the debt else attract a ban from registering new players.
