Kumawood producer Ernest Frimpong has apologised to actor Sekyere Amankwah, his family and the general public over a fake funeral poster which surfaced earlier this week on the internet creating an impression that the actor is dead.

The funeral poster has the actor’s picture but with a different name—Akwasi Mensah, aged 37. Sekyere later came out to deny the death claims.

Speaking in an interview with NEWS-ONE on Wednesday afternoon, Frimpong confirmed previous reports that the funeral poster was meant for his upcoming series titled ‘Ghost Thief’ by Urban African Media Group.

“Sekyere is not called Akwasi Mensah. It is a role he is playing in my series and he will die. It is different from his usual priest roles. That is how come we printed the obituary. It is unfortunate that one of my production guys leaked it,” he revealed.

Frimpong acknowledged that he is aware of the huge outrage the fake funeral poster has caused the actor and his family, and the production group is really sorry about it.

“I have personally spoken to his wife and other members of his family this morning that we are sorry. I am actually with him now; we are heading for a meeting somewhere. So I want the public to know he is OK. He is alive. He is not dead,” he indicated.
