The Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) constituency in the Central Region is benefitting from the construction of market stalls, school block and disability-friendly water closet toilets. The projects are being funded by the Coastal Development Authority (CODA) under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), also known as ‘one million dollars per constituency’.
The Authority, following stakeholder engagement and needs assessment of the constituency’s priorities, is currently undertaking six projects. The projects are aimed at economic empowerment, educational advancement, and sanitation.
CODA projects in KEEA
CODA is constructing two 40-seater open market stalls, storerooms, and external works at Ntranoa and Kissi communities. There is also ongoing construction of a 6-Unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Dutch Komenda Basic School. Three communities, Kwahinkrom, Amissano, and Kissi, are each benefitting from the ongoing construction of 20-seater disability friendly WC toilets with ancillary facilities.
IPEP
IPEP employs a bottom-up approach in project selection and implementation. The Programme is designed to enhance citizen participation and inclusiveness in economic and social development. Under IPEP, each constituency is allocated one million dollars or its cedi equivalent annually for special projects. Beneficiary constituencies determine projects which are approved and implemented by CODA.
