Former president and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 presidential election, John Dramani Mahama is set to sue some individuals in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), including its Director of Communications, Yaw Buaben Asamoah in the coming days, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The former president, would go to court in his bid to purge himself of any involvement in the bribery scandal that has hit his government and the previous, in which he was vice president, that the global aerospace company, Airbus SE, allegedly bribed or promised payments to senior officials in exchange for business favours between 2009 and 2015, according to the UK’s Serious Fraud Office.

But in a swift reaction to the NPP’s call, National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi who spoke in an interview on Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com on Monday afternoon indicated that, “Yaw Buabeng Asamoah will be sued”.

“It is very clear that no allegation of bribery has been made against any Ghanaian ex-government officials in Ghana…No ex-government officials have been cited for bribing or any criminal offense …not even one allegation by the court”, he said, calling the NPP’s allegations as “stupid”.

He said as he spoke, he was “speaking with lawyers, so Yaw Buabeng Asamoah will be sued for being so reckless and irresponsible; I would forgive him if it came from one of the NPP’s serial callers, but not an educated person and lawyer”.

“Even the UK authorities have said, they haven’t heard those who have been cited by the report, and you sit in this town, because of cheap politics, you want to disgrace somebody without any cause to do so and I’m so disappointed in him; who should come and do a full disclosure, you think John Mahama has your time, or you think he has nothing to do; he who alleges must prove; excuse me” he fumed.
