Akropong MTTD Police Seize Driver License Over GHC 100

Sergeant Nyalegbedzi of Akropong MTTD of the Ghana Police Service has allegedly seized a driving license of one Daniel Tetteh, who was driving a Toyota Fish with registration number GR 1071- 18 when he demanded money and the driver refuse to give him Monday afternoon on the Adukrom enroute in the Eastern Region.

The MTTD officers led by Inspector M.D Tetteh were working on the road inspecting the vehicle and stopped the driver with passengers on board from Koforidua to Kpong.

However, Sergeant Nyalegbedzi who stopped the vehicle asked the driver to hands over his driving license for him to check.

The Police Officer after checking the license didn’t found any money inside and started to ask the driver why only the license.

The driver then gave Ghc5 to the police, which he refuse to take, and insist that is that the only he will give. The driver added 10ghc making ghc 15, but the MTTD officer failed to take.

The MTTD Officer then took the driver’s license away and started to questioned why he didn’t fastened the seat belt and also has a tainted glass on his front sides windows which is an offenses.

The driver answered that, he didn’t know that the law is against the use on tainted glass on commercial vehicle, therefore he begs for such offense and will make sure to removed it.

But, Sergeant Nyalegbedzi, subsequently, refused to gave back the license to the diver, and rather issued a receipt to him to attend court on 3rd October, 2018 at Akropong Circuit Court,  after demanding  Ghc 100 and the driver to give him.

The driver, Daniel Tetteh who get worry over the Police officer incident seized to move the car which got delay closed to 30 minutes as he was demanding for the license since he claimed he has been processed to court so needs to get the license before moving the car.

The incident infuriated the passengers who gets angry and started complaining and accusing the Police officers of taken bribes which they have found of doing to drivers on the road.

The Akropong MTTD officers led by Inspector M. D Tetteh who sense the mood of the angry passengers turned educated the passengers on why the driver has been charged.

Inspector M. D. Tetteh then force the driver to move the car from scene since he was the passengers.

However, the angry driver then move his vehicle without getting his licence.
