On Monday, October 21, 2024, a High Court in Accra has reportedly rejected Bernard Mornah’s the Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), appeal against the Electoral Commission’s (EC) disqualification, from contesting in the 2024 presidential elections in Ghana.

Bernard Mornah pleaded with the court to place a restraining order on the EC with regards to the 2024 elections from printing the presidential ballot papers or carrying on with the December 7, 2024 elections until he was declared a duly nominated candidate and allowed to contest the elections.

Why Bernard Mornah Was Disqualified By The Electoral Commission (EC)

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, in the person of Jean Mensa, stated that the disqualification occurred due to incomplete registration details and inability to meet other requirements by the EC.

Jean Mensa also said, “Mr. Bernard Mornah also had incomplete particulars of supporters, he also used registered voters in a particular district to support his nomination in other districts.

“His form also contained varying signatures for the same supporters and in some cases the same signature for different supporters. The committee is of the view that he should be disqualified.”
