The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded a 27-year-old driver into prison custody for defrauding a Lecturer at Ampabame Number Two in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

The plea of Kwame Dome was not taken and he would re-appear in the court on June 23.

Detective Inspector Anthony Acheampong told the court, presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey, that the Complainant was a Lecturer at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.

He said in 2019, the accused led the complainant to his uncle to buy 10 building plots at a cost of GHC150,000.00.

The prosecution said the complainant went to develop the land but realized that it was sold to three other persons.

He said the complainant’s efforts to retrieve his money proved futile and the accused went into hiding.
The prosecution said a report was made to the Trede Police, who arrested him upon intelligence and that investigations were still on-going.
