Election 2024: Bawumia Tells Officers To Be professional, law abiding and accountable

During the 53rd Officers Graduation Ceremony held on Wednesday, the 30th of October 2024 at the National Police Training School in Accra, Tesano. 

430 Police Officers were promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP), which comprises of 305 males and 125 females. 

At the graduating ceremony, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and the presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, urged the Ghana Police Service to maintain a peaceful, open, and incident-free general election in December.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is also the chairman of the Ghana Police Council also encouraged the police officers to be proactive, law abiding and accountable in the discharge of their services. Whilst at the same time exhibiting the highest level of professionalism during and after the elections in December.

According to Mr. Evans Senyo, Amanie FM’s senior news correspondent, the following officers performed exceptionally well and were thus recognized at the graduation ceremony. 

ASP Leonard Asare – Best marksman award

ASP Dorcas Brenya – Commandant special award

ASP Prince Kaar Damir – Best in Drill award

ASP Achiburi Issah – Best All Round cadet Award

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the graduating class of officers has been exposed to police management and administrations, criminal investigations, practical police duties, high risk operations, and community engagement strategies. To top it all off the class is earning a Post Graduate Diploma in Security Studies from the University Of Cape Coast. 

All this, he said, is aimed at building the confidence and competence needed for the law enforcement leadership roles the police officers are meant to take across the country in the discharge of their duties maintaining safety and security in the country.
