Coastal Development Authority (CODA) has completed construction of a lorry park at Breman Essiam community in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam constituency in Central region. The project, one of several being undertaken by the Authority, was funded under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
Relevance of project
During CODA’s engagement with key stakeholders to conduct an assessment of the constituency’s needs, it emerged through submissions by the traditional leadership, elected officials GPRTU and community groups that the need for construction of a paved lorry park was urgent and pressing. Hence, the Authority approved the project as a priority to be addressed through the one million dollars initiative.
CODA projects in Ajumako Enyan Essiam constituency
In addition to the car park at Breman Essiam, CODA is currently undertaking several other projects in the constituency. Construction is ongoing for a 20-seater disability friendly WC toilet with ancillary facilities at Enyaa-Apaa; a 3-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Ajumako Bosso; and a community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compound at Asempanyin.
Others are two 2-unit KG classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Bisease Bethel Primary and Breman Denkyendua Basic schools; 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Osedzi School; and renovation of the Sacred Heart Community Library at Essiam.
All projects were selected through consensus.
IPEP
Through IPEP, communities are empowered to determine their developmental priorities in the process to accelerate economic and social development. The programme, a flagship of the Akufo-Addo administration, allocates one million dollars or its cedi equivalent to each constituency annually for special projects.
