Eastern Regional football based academy, Okwahuman has lifted the third edition of the 2019 under 11 kids world cup held at the Mamprobi school park and Lords Wembley Plus in Accra from the 27th to 30th August, 2019.
The four days highly patronized and intensified tournament, saw fourteen clubs vying for bragging rights and fighting for supremacy.
The participated teams includes, Strong fc from Bortianor, Fortune fc from Techiman, G.O sports Academy from Volta Region, Barca Kids and Magic stars from Accra, Great Emineros and Soccer believers from Prestea, Ark Heroes fc from Somanya, Swansea fc from Kumasi,Supreme fc, Fc Widana, Guiroes de Soccer and Sporting Club Accra.
Fortune football club from Techiman defeated Strong fc by 4-3 in the penalty shootout after their game ended one apiece to clinch the second spot.
Young talented winger, Jonathan Edwards lone goal in the dying ember of the final match managed Okwahuman soccer Academy from Eastern region to defeat G.O sports Academy from Volta region to lift the ultimate trophy.
The organizer of the tournament, Mr. Felix Obeng Andoh says their main motive or vision in organizing the tournament is to revive colts and juvenile soccer.
“Ghana’s former footballers were all groomed from the various colts and juvenile clubs, so we thought it wise to gather all these teams together. In the future, we might have the next Stephen Appiah or Asamoah Gyan from this tournament”. he said.
Mr. Felix Obeng Andoh again pleaded to corporate entities to support such good course in the future.
“We are calling on companies in the country to come to our aid and support juvenile football, because we have a lot of talented and young players from the grassroots”. he stressed.
Okwahuman S.A took home two set of balls,certificate and undisclosed amount of money whiles G.O sports and Fortune football took home two set of balls and certificates respectively.
Jonathan Edwards from Okwahuman Soccer Academy was crowned the best player of the tournament.
The last two editions was won by Barca Kids followed by Magic Stars in 2018.
