Ga Central MCE INSPECTS PROGRESS OF WORK AT OLEBU

The Municipal Chief Executive of Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Bashiru Kamara and his entourage have made a working visit to the dredging site at Olebu, Vicolis down.

Staff of the Assembly who were part of the entourage include the Deputy Director, Humeratu Tani Abudulai, Urban Roads Engineer, Mr. John Armah, the Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Tenkorang Amoabeng, the Quantity Surveyor, Mrs. Gloria A. A. Asamany and staff of Information Services Department.

The MCE in an interview said he was satisfied with the progress of work done so far by the Engineers. Hon. Kamara said that resident living in that area will now breathe a sigh of relief whenever it rained due to the dredging.

“The Assembly member for the electoral area has constantly been to my office with the issue of floods in his area and today I am happy the dredging is being done to help resolve the issue of floods”, he disclosed.

Going on further, the Hon. MCE said, similar exercises have been done at Sowutuom Mambo and at Mary Lucy Hospital area which has helped to stop flooding so efforts are being made to completely eradicate the issue of floods in the Ga Central Municipality.

Hon. Bashiru Kamara concluded by advising residents to desist from dumping refuse in the drain and avoid a recurring flood situation. He said very soon offenders will be arrested and prosecuted at the law court.

Speaking to Hon. George Adu Darko, the Assembly member for the Olebu electoral area, he said, the project being undertaking in the area would relieve members of the community of the perennial floods they have been experiencing.

“Anytime it rains, members of the community run to me to complain about the flood situation, this has also been giving me sleepless nights so this exercise will bring some form of respite to residents and to me as their Assembly member”, he stated.

The Hon. Assembly member also sounded a word of caution to residents to refrain from throwing rubbish into the dredge drain and continued by saying that people will be prosecuted without any favors or pardon.

As at the time the team was leaving site, work was still on-going. The 6-day exercise is however expected to be completed soon.
