Ga Traditional Leaders Sow Seeds of Peace and Progress Ahead of Homowo Festival

The Ga traditional leaders have embarked on the annual “Nmaadumo” ritual, planting seeds to usher in the Ga calendar and prepare for the Homowo festival.

This significant ceremony, which takes place from May 6th to June 6th, 2024, involves a month of contemplation, marked by a ban on drumming, noise making, and funerals.

Nii Nortey Adumuah, Osiahene for the Osu Traditional area, explained that the Nmaadumo ritual is a powerful symbol of the Ga people’s commitment to peace, progress, and spiritual growth.

He clarified that the ban on drumming is not a restriction, but rather an opportunity for the community to come together in quiet reflection and prayer.

Throughout the ritual, various groups, including pregnant women, farmers, drivers, and market women, will participate in seed sowing ceremonies, seeking blessings and protection.

As the Ga people observe this period of silence, they will come together in solidarity, seeking a harmonious and bountiful year ahead.
