Mr. George Lamptey, an official at the Ghana Airport Security said he has been really touched by the current developments in the world, and as the coronavirus is real, Ghanaian sportsmen and women should not joke or take things for granted.

He said the covid-19 pandemic is a very serious threat to the world, so people should comply with the order of His Excellency, Nana Akufo Addo and stay home to avoid the spread of the disease.

He said it is sad that the 2020 Olympic Games has been rescheduled, but human life is more important, and the boxers are very dear to the nation.

Mr. George Lamptey said boxers always need motivation and encouragement because it is not an easy sport, and they need to be controlled to be disciplined.

“This is my widow’s mite, and I want to appeal to companies and the Ministry of Youth & Sports to support the boxers as most of them are young and not employed” he stressed.

He said the two boxers who have qualified for Tokyo 2020 were initially worried about their fitness, but they have been psyched up for the biggest world sports competition next year.
