GTTA Treasurer gets An International Appointment

Astute Treasurer of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Mr. William Berekorang Asare has received appointment from the International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF.


The former national player and administrator will serve as a correspondence member on the ITTF Para Table Tennis Committee.


His appointment came due to his hard work, dedication and commitment towards the development of the game.


The letter signed by the ITTF president, Petra Sörling, ITTF group CEO, Steve Dainton and ITTF General Secretary, Raul Calin on December 20, 2021 stated that the committee is excited to be working along with William Asare.


“We are looking forward to working with you and with the other members of the Para Table Tennis Committee to pursue the overall growth and development of Table Tennis to ensure it continues to move towards being one of the leading sports worldwide.We count on your strong support to achieve this goal,” the letter stated.


In an exclusive interview with this portal, William Asare says he is delighted about his appointment.


 “I am personally happy about this appointment and I believe the experience I gather in this field as being part of the international level will go a long way to help Ghana as a whole, I am expected to play a pivotal role in making sure that Para Table Tennis in the world is a beacon of hope for our disabled brothers and sisters,” he said.


He said he is optimistic and hopes to change the perception about the game.


“My key focus is to make the world know that disability is not inability through Table Tennis as a Universal sports,” he added.


He, however, used the opportunity to call on all entities to support push the para table tennis forward.


“I will call on corporate groups to support Ghana Para Table Tennis through the Ghana Table Tennis Federation so that together we can bring hope and joy to our disabled friends,” he stated.
