Handball: Ghana Clinch Bronze Medal in Togo, Lome

The competition which was organized by the France Federation in collaboration with Confederation of Africa Handball for Zone 2 & 3 countries in West Africa was scheduled from June 30 to July 6th, 2019 with Togo as the host nation. Other countries involved were Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Mali and Niger.

Ghana was placed in Group B with Nigeria and Mali. The team won their first group match against Mali with a score line of 24-31 and lost to Nigeria with a goal difference of 8. Ghana lost in the semi finals to Niger and then went ahead to play the 3rd & 4th position against Nigeria who whipped Ghana initially in the group stage.

Team Ghana mapped up a tactical strategy which helped them in beating their counterpart in a revenge match. The score line stood at 37-35 in favor of Ghana.

Benin was crowned the overall winner by beating Niger with a goal difference of one but it took extra time for the two teams to be separated as they entertained the gallery with massive display of power skill and speed.

The first 4 teams ranking after the end of the championship are as follows;

2. NIGER
3. GHANA
4. NIGERIA
