The tennis court at the 4 Garrison will be the center of attraction for all tennis-loving patriots within Kumasi as the 2nd edition of the Junior Tennis Open Championship is expected to start from December 21 to 22,2019.
The tournament which is being held under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Tennis Association and sponsored by Coach Albert’s Tennis Academy, Virginia with support from 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club.
The former tennis star Albert Asiedu Ofei for the past 6 years has been single-handed donating tennis equipment to junior tennis players within Accra and Kumasi.
Speaking to ghanatennis.org the one-time national junior champion before earning a tennis scholarship to play Division 1 tennis in the states Asiedu-Ofei said, “my desire to take tennis to the next level will come to naught if we don’t start with the kids. We chose the date with their vacation in mind to engage them to make good use of their holidays”.
According to coach Albert Asiedu-Ofei, the draws for the championship will be held on Friday 20th December 2019 ahead of the opening round of matches the following day. The competition will be played in several age categories including boys and girls U-12,U-14 and U-16.
Mr. Asiedu- Ofei added that, lunch will be provided and as well a lot of prizes are at stake for the youngsters.
