A community football based club Kings Babies FC emerged victors at the recent ended Amanie FM Inter-Community football gala.
The big event which took place on Saturday 28th September,2019 at the Mabrouk park at Banana-Inn in Accra, saw eight football communities contesting for the ultimate prize.
Shakabanka FC from Laterbiokorshie, Grace of Ablekuma FC from Shukura, Owaaman FC from Russia, Kantudu FC from Sabon-Zongo, Amanie wekukpee FC from Mamprobi, Blue Crush fc from Bubiashie, Kings Babies and Agogo Stars from Laterbiokorshie.
Prior to the main matches, the staff of Amanie fm played Ideal Ladies football club, a female side in Accra in a curtain raiser, which ended 1 apiece.
Shakabanka FC Laterbiokorshie were awarded 3 goals and 3 points due to Amanie Wekukpee fc’s failure to make it on the match day. Agogo Stars progressed to the semi’s after they defeated Blue Crush fc by 1-0 in the first and second games respectively.
Kantudu FC couldn’t stand the might of the royals (Owaaman FC) from Russia where they Lost by a goal to nil. Kings Babies FC also thumbed their authority over Grace of Ablekuma FC with a 2-1 win.
Agogo Stars and Shakabanka FC squared up in the first semifinal clash. After displaying some spectacular skills, Agogo Stars found the back of the net through a free kick by Alhassan Brown in 67th minute of the second half. Agogo Stars finally managed to secure the final berth with a lone goal over Shakabanka fc.
In the other semifinal encounter, Kings Babies from Laterbiokorshie managed to record 1-0 win over Owaaman FC from Russia to also book a place in the finals.
In quest for the ultimate prize, Kings Babies and Agogo Stars from Laterbiokorshie clashed in the grand finale.
Samuel Commey of Kings Babies registered the opener through a non-drop ball in the early minutes of the first half. Agogo stars created several chances but were denied by the goalkeeper of Kings Babies Emmanuel Asare in the dying ember of the game.
Kings Babies kept their fans and the spectators glued to their seat with dazzling skills and maintained their possession of the ball until the center referee blew the final whistle.
Commey’s lone goal cruised his side to victory at the much anticipated finals of the day.
Kings Babies FC took home a giant sparkling trophy, one set of bib, a ball and 500 cedis after emerging as winners Agogo Stars were awarded with a ball and cash prize of 300 cedis as second placed team.
Emmanuel Asare, Samuel Commey of Kings Babies and Alhassan Brown of Agogo Stars emerged as the best goalkeeper, top scorer with two goals and best player of the competition respectively.
Each participated team was awarded with a certificate of participation.
