The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, has reiterated the fact that government will always commend individuals and organizations who help in infrastructural development.

Hon. Patrick Kumor (MCE) was speaking on Monday, 24th May 2021 at the handing over ceremony of a newly built modern five (5) maternity block for the Mallam Demonstration Clinic.

The beautiful edifice was built by a philanthropic couple, Mr and Mrs Yaw Amankwah, proprietors of the Crown and Glory School at New Gbawe.

He said the gesture by the couple should be emulated by others to help in nation building.

In a welcome address, the Deputy Director of Health Services (DDNS) at the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital, Madam Cynthia Lamptey, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Amankwah for coming to the aid of the clinic in their time of need.

She recounted the initial meetings and the consent of the couple to execute the project without any strings attached.

Dr. Mrs. Abena Okoh, the Director of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Health Directorate, was very happy with the maternity block and while thanking the benefactors, requested for the addition of Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU).

Hon. Andrew Oppong Amoako, the Assembly Member for New Gbawe, said he was very happy to be part of the historic event.

He prayed for more of such philanthropists to help develop the electoral area.

The Queenmother of Mallam, Naa Kwaatsoo, said, as traditional rulers, development is a priority.

The new maternity block is an addition to the development of the area, thereby adding value to the community.

Mr. Yaw Amankwah, in a short address, said his wife and himself deem it as a privilege to be part of the success story of the Mallam Demonstration Clinic.

He commended Madam Cynthia Lamptey (DDHS) who was the midwife in charge of the Mallam Demonstration Clinic then, for her efforts in the putting up of the maternity block.

Mrs. Gloria Kufuor Amankwah said the project would not be the last and urged others to come on board to help the community.

The MCE assisted Mr. and Mrs. Amankwah to cut the tape to signify the opening of the maternity block.

It would be recalled that a few months ago, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah, commissioned the renovated Mallam Demonstration Clinic and provided them with a 15KVA Generating Set.

A pregnant mother expressed her happiness and said the new maternity block will go a long way to ease the burden of traveling to the Municipal Hospital for ante natal care and delivery.
