A 39-year-old man accused of raping a mentally disabled teenager at Muhovhoya village in Limpopo, South Africa, was set on fire by an angry mob which attacked him.
The rape suspect with a badly burnt body was certified dead at the scene by the police who responded to frantic calls from the area.
Police Spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe who confirmed the incident, said the 17-year-old girl was picking firewood with other women when they were attacked by the man.
Enraged over the rape act, residents of the community attacked the man with various objects before he was set on fire.
The police said a case of murder has been opened but no arrest has been made as the suspects involved are still unknown.
