Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, has promised to lead a campaign to secure avalanche of votes in his constituency to help President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo win the 2020 presidential election.

“Manhyia South is always noted for securing huge votes for President Akufo-Addo during presidential elections and the positive trend will continue,” he assured the President.

Napo was speaking with the media on Saturday after being confirmed through acclamation as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia South Constituency.

According to him, the fact that nobody picked a form to contest him in the NPP race at Manhyia South gives a clear indication that the party members believe in him and the Akufo-Addo government. He, however, said there would not be any complacency on the part of the party to ensure a second term for the NPP.

“I will work harder than ever to help the NPP to increase its votes so that President Akufo-Addo’s mandate will be renewed this year,” Napo stated.

He, therefore, called for total peace and unity so that the party could work and retain political power this year.

The Chairman of NPP Council of Elders, Nana Kwaku Duah, said Napo had united the party and also worked to engender total transformation in the constituency so far.

According to him, he was not surprised that nobody picked a form to contest Napo in the NPP polls, adding that Napo had made the party more attractive and stronger in the area.

“Nomination was opened for 30 days but apart from Napo, nobody picked a form to contest,” Haruna Alhassan, the NPP Manhyia South Secretary, indicated.

Kwaku Kyei Baffuor, the Ashanti Regional NPP Representative at the event, described Napo as an international brand who deserves to be supported.

“Just recently, Harvard University honoured Napo; he has achieved more for the country over the years,” he added.
