The incumbent Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Seyram Alhassan, stated that her desire is to serve the constituency.

According to her, the key objective of her election to parliament is to serve her constituents, particularly the deprived, women, and the youth.

The Sanitation Minister said “when I was campaigning to be elected as the MP for the constituency, my core objective was to come in and support women, small businesses, the youth, and the constituency.

It was my desire to use my skills, experience, and knowledge to serve my people. To be a responsible leader requires you to have the experience, the temperament, courage, a good heart, and hard work. That was how God created me, and that is how I want to serve my people.”

The MP also denied having knowledge of the violence that marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

“I want to uplift single mothers and small business owners so the constituency would be economically viable, that was my objective. I did not come into the contest by capitalising on what happened at Bawaleshie. It was not part of the plan. I came in and campaigned in peace and to get the people to vote for me.

“Whatever that happened, I was not even there; I had no knowledge of it. I did not participate in it. I came in to ask the people to vote for me to serve them. I was not part of it. Whenever I hear people talk about the violent incident, I become sad and teary because I knew nothing about it.” She stated.

She added: “To God be the glory, I have been there to offer assistance to all those who were injured. I have supported in the little way I can. The government has also provided some form of support. One of the victims who sustained serious injuries is called Yaro. I have provided some form of support for him regularly.”

She made the remarks in an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5FM when she joined the station’s free breast screening exercise held on October 25, 2024.
