Mobile Telecommunication Network [MTN] Ghana has released a notice on mobile money transactions.

This follows an audio circulating on social media advising the public who are transacting business with ” MOMO ”   to withdraw all their monies from their mobile money accounts due to the recent xenophobic impasse between Nigeria and South Africa seeing some South African companies such as Shoprite and MTN offices burnt down in Nigeria.

The audio also stated that due to this issue MTN is likely to be closed down and customers are likely to loose their monies if not withdrawn.

But MTN Ghana has dispelled the rumor saying, customers need not to worry because their monies are safe. The company also explained that MTN Ghana is an entity on its own and and doesn’t operate in the group level.
