The National Association of Beauticians and Hair Dressers has launched its 10th anniversary in Accra, on January 13, 2020.
The occasion was under the theme: “Skill Enhancement, The Medium for National Development.”
In an Exclusive interview with the Greater Accra Regional President who doubles as the National Treasurer of the Association, Mrs Ruth Tonyinga said that the program was an opportunity for beauticians and designers to improve their capacities.
“Some learnt the job in their villages, and others even outside the country, and there is therefore the need to meet, and cross pollinate ideas.
She said, for example, that there was a full syllable for study for the beauticians, and that there were courses like salon management, sanitation, sterilization, skin care, and nail care.
She therefore encouraged all beauticians in the country to join the Association since the Government was now giving support to the them through COTVET.
“Once you register with COVET, you would benefit from whichever program that might come, and as a master you will train for free, and your apprentices as well under the ticket of their master.”
Mrs Tonyinga finally reiterated that some artisans did not join the Association because they claim the Association was stressing them with frequent dues;she therefore said benefits driven from the Association were much more than those trivial reasons, keeping some away from the group.
“Is better for everybody to join the Association to learn so that you do not keep on destroying your client’s hair or clothing”.
The event was an avenue where all the industry players meet to share ideas and abreast themselves in order to meet international standards.
