National Sanitation Day: Ablekuma Central Constituency Takes Action

The Ablekuma Central Constituency, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Frank Nkansah, recently observed the National Sanitation Day with a massive clean-up exercise across the constituency. The event, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, saw the participation of residents, stakeholders, and government officials, all coming together to promote sanitation and healthy lifestyles.

The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who observed the day, emphasized the importance of paying critical attention to sanitation. “The capital needs to improve on its sanitation lifestyle,” he stated, urging constituents to take ownership of their environment.

This message was echoed by Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, who pledged to fight Accra’s sanitation woes with support from Ghanaians.

Hon. Ibrahim highlighted plans to fix major market centers, noting that Accra is the biggest business district in the country. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that our city is clean and healthy for all residents,” he assured.

The MCE of the Constituency, Hon. Frank Nkansah, also emphasized the significance of the day, advocating for the municipal’s stance against filth.

Hon. Nkansah called on constituents to uphold the standard of sanitation, stating, “We must take responsibility for our environment and work together to keep our city clean.” He revealed plans by his outfit to continue promoting healthy lifestyles within the constituency, adding, “We will continue to sensitize and educate our people on the importance of sanitation and its impact on our health and well-being.”

The National Sanitation Day exercise is a monthly initiative introduced by the government to improve sanitation and promote sustainable healthy lifestyles in the country. The Ablekuma Central Constituency’s observation of the day demonstrates its commitment to creating a clean and healthy environment for its residents.
