Minister for the Interior Henry Quartey has clarified that Friday, November 8, 2024, will not be a public holiday, even though it is the day set for the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebration in Ghana.
In a statement signed by Minister Quartey, it was specified: “The general public is hereby informed that Friday, November 8, 2024, is NOT a Public Holiday, even though the 2024 National Farmers’ Day will be observed on that day.
“However, Friday, December 6, 2024, which marks Farmers’ Day, remains a Statutory Public Holiday and will be observed as such across the country.”
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) previously announced on October 26, 2024, that the National Farmers’ Day celebrations would take place on November 8 in the Greater Accra Region, foregoing regional-level celebrations this year.
According to the Ministry, each region has been allowed to nominate winners for ten award categories, and these awardees are expected to travel to Accra on Friday, November 8, 2024, to be honoured at the Awards Night Ceremony.
The event will be held at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, at 4:00 p.m.
“At this ceremony, Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions,” part of the statement reads.
