Lord Oblitey Commey, a deputy national campaign manager of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2020 general election has charged members of the Western Regional Campaign Team of the party to focus on running a decent campaign ahead of the elections.
He charged the 37-member campaign team to serve in humility and also conduct issues-based campaign, devoid of insults and other acts that had the potential to bring chaos.
Mr. Commey stated this when he inaugurated the regional campaign team, which has the regional chairman of the party, Francis Ndede Siah, as chairman, on Monday.
He congratulated all the members and expressed confidence that they would discharge their responsibilities to justify why they were selected.
He stated that the team’s duties were among other things to work harder to increase the parliamentary and presidential votes in the region for the party.
He said this would enable the NPP continue with its developmental interventions geared towards improving the living conditions of the people.
He assured Ghanaians that the NPP would continue to govern the country with humbleness and truth.
He explained that the party had a duty to ensure victory in the 2020 elections because it was embarking on policies and programmes that would cause Ghanaians to entrust power to them again.
He, however, called on the members not to be complacent or so confident about victory but to execute vigorous strategies to retain the party in power and win more parliamentary seats in the region.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, assured that the NPP would conduct clean campaign and that the ruling party expected same from the opposition NDC since the NPP would not countenance any intimidation tactics by them.
In related development, the Western North Region branch of the NPP has also inaugurated a strong and formidable 19-member regional campaign team to help capture majority seats and garner more votes for the party in the 2020 general elections.
