Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams, Youth Coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has tasked retired sportsmen and women to serve as positive role models for the current generation who are into sports.

Speaking in an interview with Yours Truly, he said while some old stars are basking in glory, others are gnashing and do not know where their next meal will come from.

He advised sportsmen and women to make hay while the sun is shining, and try to invest well so that after their sporting career, they can still survive.

Williams whose uncle is Olla Bode Williams, a former international football star who made big waves in Ghana and Nigeria said it is very sad to see former national and international stars living poor after their hay days.

According to him, the plight of Abu Imoro, a former great footballer who took to hard drugs is very pathetic, and hoped he would be helped.

The CEO of One-On-One Foundation and Dreamland Sports Plus Ltd who had been organizing the Schools Sanitation Inspection Tour and other sports activities said sportsmen and women are looked up to by the youth, so they should be good examples.

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, he wished that people will keep their surrounding clean and live healthy lives.

He assured students that the Sanitation Tour will certainly be continued and he thanked Unilever for sponsoring the programme with is reaching over 25 secondary schools in Ghana.
