Reverend Obofour’s church members have subjected the workers of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to severe beatings at the church premises
The Tema MCE staff were at the church premise to inspect building permit and other documents.
The culprits, who are members and loyals of popular pastor, Francis Antwi, also known as Rev. Obofuor pounced on the MCE officials when they visited the church’s Tema branch for inspection of their building permit.
The police have arrested five persons in connection to the attack of the officials who were performing their duties
The police have arrested five members of the Anointed Place Chapel for violently attacking officials of the Tema West Municipal Assembly on Monday, November 25, 2019.
Narrating the incident to Accra based Citi FM, the head of the local government service, Nana Ato Arthur said the church had failed to show up after several summons and request for their building permit documents had failed.
Mr. Ato Arthur further stated that it was based on church leadership’s failure to produce the permit for their build that led the taskforce to write “on their portion of the wall as usual, to produce permit”.
“Just when they moved to carry on, some youth of the church pounced on them and started beating them with sticks, metal strips, cutlasses and smashing the vehicles of the Engineer, the Municipal Finance Officer and the rest of the taskforce,” he narrated.
He said a formal police complaint was subsequently made to the Sakumono Police Station , leading to the arrest of the five culprits.
Meanwhile, the Local Government Service say they vehemently condemn the action and behaviour of the members of the Anointed Place Chapel.
