Germany based former Ghanaian boxer, Ray Opoku has cautioned the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) not to rush in coming back to organize boxing bouts in Ghana.

Speaking to Yours Truly on Saturday, he said the Covid-19 disease is very real as it has taken the lives of so many people.

He said Ghanaians should not joke with the pandemic at all because it is very deadly.

According to Opoku who fought in Ghana before moving to Italy and later to Germany said boxers and officials must be examined and tested two weeks to a bout and be retested again before the fight.

He expressed that everyone involved in the fight like cornermen, ring announcer /MC, even medic, media and other officials must be tested and it must be established that they are all negative before they can come near the stage.

He noted that Germany have been able to bring back football without fans, because they have great medical facilities and they are very careful and cautious in medicine and on health issues.

He advised that every body in boxing must be disciplined and contribute positively to the game and business of boxing.

Ray Opoku commended the administration of president Peter Zwennes and urged the media to promote boxing like they are doing for football.
