Health Minister Says Chinese Made Condoms Are Too ‘Small’ For Men In Africa
Zimbabwe’s Health Minister, David Parirenyatwa, says that condoms that are made in China are too small for the men in the African nation.
After the complaint was made by Minister David, a Chinese condom manufacturer said they are considering making their products in different sizes.
Minister David made the remarks during an event in Harare, a capital city when he was promoting the prevention of HIV and Aids.
During the conference, Minister David said, “The southern African region has the highest incidence of HIV and we are promoting the use of condoms.”
Zhao Chuan, the chief executive of the condom manufacturer Beijing Daxiang and His Friends Technology Co, said they are going to make condoms in bigger sizes.
In a statement Zhao made, he said, “As to the different demands from customers such as in Zimbabwe, Daxiang, as a Chinese manufacturer, has the ability and the obligation to make a contribution, so we have started to do some surveys on users’ data in the region to make preparations for future products with different sizes.”
The Chinese company said countries from all over the world have different requirements when it comes to condoms.
Zhao said Chinese men want thinner condoms and Americans like softer ones.
