Table Tennis: Adweso wins’ Dasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng II Inter-Community League

‘Adweso’ table tennis club emerged winners of the recently ended table tennis league dubbed “Dasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng II Inter-Community League”.

The Inter-Community League organized by the New Juaben Table Tennis Club in Koforidua in the Eastern Region was aimed at honoring the late king Nana Kwaku Boateng II.

It was also geared towards the unearthing of potential and talented players within the region for future endeavors.

The communities that participated included, Nsukwao, Adweso, Betom, Jackson Park, Añlo town, Srodae and Glamour.

Team Adweso managed by US based Mr. Emmanuel Lawer, pulled 32 points after 12 matches ahead of Nsukwao (30 points) and Jackson Park (26 points) respectively.

Solomon Danso, Augustine Baidoo among other players pulled strings together to clinch the ultimate prize for their side.

They took home GH¢2000 and medals.

Experienced Emmanuel Asante was also adjudged the best player of the league.

Mr. Emmanuel Obiri-Mintah, the public relations officer of the NJTTC disclosed that through the league, two players from the region earned a spot in the national team for the upcoming Commonwealth games in Birmingham.

He also acknowledged the support from individuals and groups who threw their weight behind the success of the maiden league.

“We want to express gratitude to Koftown mma in diaspora, their leader is Mr. Frederick Oti-Boateng, Prince Mark Cold Store and all the team managers of the various clubs. They did very well,” he said.

“We are looking forward to select best players for Eastern regional squad camping, after the top four,” he stated.

Mr. Obiri-Mintah also revealed plans of organizing a top four championship later in the year with the selection of best players.

The Dasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng II Inter-Community League was sanctioned by the Ghana Table Tennis Association, GTTA.
