A man who tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of President Akufo-Addo’s convoy, has explained the reason behind his action.

According to Seth Nana Amowi, he tried to petition the president but failed, and therefore decided to jump in front of the president’s convoy.

Amowi added that he had a letter which contained suggestions with regard to the challenges facing Ghana, but was unable to send it to the president.

In the letter, he suggested that churches as well as private cars should be taxed in order to raise money for the country.

The Accra High Court however granted him bail to the tune of GHC20,000 with one surety to be justified.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Amowi attempted suicide as he sought to jump in front of the president’s convoy on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 around the Ako Adjei interchange.

He had reportedly hidden close to the Jubilee House, awaiting the President’s convoy and acted as soon as it showed up.

In court, the prosecution argued that Amowi started hitting the President’s car and lay on the bonnet, and it took the security a great effort to get him off the way.

He is scheduled to reappear before the court on 26th September.
