1V-1D one of the biggest deceptions served to Ghanaians – Sammy Gyamfi

An ardent critic of the governing NPP, Sammy Gyamfi, has described one of the flagship policies of the government as a sham.

In an elaborate discussion on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, the NDC National Communicator hit out at Vice President Bawumia over his claims, when the latter outlined the successes of the Akufo-Addo-led administration at a Town Hall meeting in Kumasi.

Addressing the pointers raised by the vice president one after the other, Mr. Gyamfi averred that, rather than poverty alleviation and comfort, the NPP government had sunk Ghanaians into a worse state.

The Akufo-Addo led administration promised to build a dam each in every district across the country. But in the run-up to the constructions, government has come under scrutiny over the state of some of the dams, from a section of the public especially members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“…that one 1V-1D initiative is one of the biggest deceptions ever to be perpetrated on the people of this country. And we waste the taskpayer’s money excavating… space, it rained, it collected water, and you told the people we have given them dams.
Today, the dry season is not even at its peak yet,” Sammy Gyamfi noted

Referencing the Minister of Special Development Initiative, Hawa Koomson, the outspoken NDC member indicated that she sought to vindicate herself over the ‘shoddy’ dams by saying that the funds allocated to her could not have constructed any “meaningful” dams.

“…Haven’t you seen a video of this same Hawa Koomson saying that she was only allocated an amount of 250, 000 Ghana cedis to construct a dam? And that with amount, she could not have constructed “meaningful dams”, and so what she did per logical interpretation was to construct meaningless dams,” he added.
