The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital successfully inaugurated the Korle Bu Chorale (KBC) on Friday 2nd September, 2022.
The program, which had guests from various sectors, staff and other choirs, was full of melodious tunes and dancing.
In a welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah expressed his joy for the creation of the Korle Bu Chorale.
“Our greatest resources is the human beings in the institution and that is why this choir is important”, he said.
Dr. Ampomah added that the formation of the KBC would bring togetherness amongst staff.
The focal person for the choir who doubles as the Hospital’s Chief Internal Auditor, Mr. Stephen Ayeh Perdison in stating the purpose of choir said it was to inaugurate a beautiful initiative which had birthed the chorale group.
The Hospital’s Board Chairman, Dr. David Nkansa-Dwamena in his address also “wished that if patients on admission could hear the melodious tunes, a lot of them would recover quickly and be discharged”.
There were performance from the Korle Bu Chorale and the Greater Accra Mass Choir, who were special guests for the occasion. The management of the hospital also presented the choir with a new piano and a combo to assist them in their activities.
The Management pledged their continued support to the choir to ensure their sustainability.
Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, after enjoying the music performances, awarded a 10-year old boy, who assisted the KBC as a lead pianist for a great job. The little boy was given educational materials and a cash prize.
A mini fundraising was also done to support the choir.
The program ended with smiles on the faces of the choristers and guests who were present.
