The Black Satellites of Ghana have secured qualification to the 2025 Africa U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana’s U-20 side secured the qualification after a comeback win over Cote D’voire, in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U20 on Sunday October 27, 2024.

Demond Ofei’s side came from behind to beat the Ivorians 2-1 at the Stade Municipal and set up a final against either Nigeria or Niger.

Konan Loukou gave the Ivorians an early lead before the Ghanaians pulled parity from a deflected corner kick to end the first half.

Jerry Afriyie, who is the leading top scorer in the sub-regional Championship with four goals so far, stepped up to complete the comeback after scoring a magnificent penalty early in the second half. Desmond Ofei’s charges held on to secure victory and advance to the Final.

The win has ensured the Black Satellites qualification to the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Satellites will be making a return to the AFCON Championship next year after winning the title in 2021 under Abdul Karim Zito.

This 2025 U-20 AFCON will also serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically.
