“Aowin MP Refutes Allegations of Illegal Mining Involvement”

The Member of Parliament for Aowin, Oscar Ofori Larbi, has strongly denied allegations by local chiefs and elders accusing him of involvement in illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

In a firm response, Mr. Larbi dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated, insisting they were part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and discredit his leadership.

Speaking to the media, the MP refuted accusations that he had facilitated the entry of illegal miners, allegedly from the northern part of the country, into Aowin. He clarified that the individuals in question were not illegal miners but rather members of his political party who had been introduced to an anti-galamsey task force—ironically, by the same traditional authorities now accusing him.

“What they are saying is completely false. This is a calculated attempt to damage my image,” he stated. “The people they claim I brought for illegal mining are, in fact, party members who were introduced to the task force on illegal mining by the very traditional authorities making these allegations. I am confident that the truth will vindicate me.”

Mr. Larbi reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the law and supporting efforts to combat illegal mining in the Aowin constituency.
