The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Sports Unit, led by Ebenezer Frimpong, has achieved unprecedented success in 2025, with the female hockey and basketball teams dominating local and continental competitions.

The hockey team, a five-time Africa club champions, won all five competitions they participated in, including the Africa Club Championships in Egypt, T-Tommy Tournament in Kumasi, Oguaa Fetu Championship in Cape Coast, Greater Accra League, and Greater Accra Knockout.

The team’s unbeaten streak was matched by their individual accolades, with Vivian Narkuor winning Best Player and Top Scorer at the Africa Club Championships, 2025 Best Female Hockey Player at the SWAG awards as well as Top Scorer in the Greater Accra League. Matilda Addison was named Best Goalkeeper.

The basketball team also had an impressive year, winning both the After 7 / Cowbell Championships in Cape Coast and the Greater Accra Basketball League without a single loss. Hannah Amoako was named Most Valuable Player, Gloria Gyampo won Defensive Player of the Year, and Richard Borsah was recognized as Best Female Coach.

Ebenezer Frimpong, Head of GRA Sports Unit, attributed the team’s success to the dedication and hard work of the technical staff and players.

“All these achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication, commitment, and hard work by the all technical staff and the playing body,” he said. Frimpong also acknowledged the support of the GRA staff and Top Management, led by Commissioner General Mr Anthony Sarpong.

The GRA teams’ success is a testament to the organization’s commitment to sports development and talent promotion. As Frimpong noted, “The success story of GRA Sports will be incomplete without the mention of the support from the entire staff of Authority, Top Management led by the Commissioner General Mr Anthony Sarpong”.

Frimpong, however, added that it is about time the country see sports as an investment rather than expenditure, and also invest.
