The Ghana Federation of American Football – GFAF formally launched its support for the Black Stars’ World Cup 2026 campaign on Friday, 30th May 2026, through a strategic partnership with the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, DC.
The engagement marks a new phase of sports diplomacy as the federation positions American football as a bridge between Ghana and the United States.
Led by Secretary General Mr. Mohammed Osman Nkosi and Senior Coaching Advisor Mr. Chadwick Louisville, Head Coach of West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Virginia. They were warmly received by Hon. Bernard Quantson, Head of the Consular Section, alongside members of his team. The meeting highlights growing institutional ties between Ghanaian sports bodies and diplomatic missions abroad.
Mr. Mohammed Osman Nkosi highlighted the timing of the partnership, noting the global momentum behind the sport.
“The importance of such partnerships is key, especially as American football is set to make its debut in the LA 2028 Olympics, the Olympic inclusion offers a clear target for athlete development and international collaboration over the next four years,” he emphasised.
During the session, GFAF introduced its core mission to stakeholders at the embassy. The federation aims to use American football as both a cultural exchange element and a vehicle for creating opportunities for Ghanaian youth in Ghana and across the USA. Some Programs under discussion include coaching clinics, talent pathways, and educational exchanges tied to the sport’s expansion etc…
Both parties expressed commitment to leveraging sport for sustainable development, youth empowerment, diaspora engagement, and strengthening Ghana-US relations through athletic and cultural initiatives.
