Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director of Research at the Electoral Commission (EC), has confirmed that the Commission is ready to complete the collation of parliamentary results for the Ablekuma North constituency.
The process had been suspended due to security concerns. However, following a High Court order on January 4, 2025, the EC was directed to resume collation and declare winners for four outstanding parliamentary elections.
Collation for Ablekuma North, the last remaining constituency, began on January 8, 2025, but was halted due to incomplete results from three polling stations. The EC initially scheduled the continuation for January 17, 2025, at 8:00 AM, but the Ghana Police Service advised postponing the exercise due to security risks.
In a statement issued on Friday, January 17, the EC expressed concerns that the police had not enhanced security at collation centers, which led to disruptions by party supporters.
