GHANA TVET SERVICE ENHANCE CAPACITY OF ACCOUNTANTS IN ITS INSTITUTIONS

The Finance Directorate of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service today 18th August,2022 organized a capacity building workshop for Accountants from institutions of the Ghana TVET Service from all the (16) sixteen regions.

The Deputy Director General for Corporate Services Ms Lily Djima opened the workshop on behalf of the Director General Mrs Mawusi Awity Nudekor.

Ms Djima elaborated functions of the Ghana TVET Service with emphasis on the following.

•Provide Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service delivery at the Pre- tertiary level.
•Ensure the effective and efficient management and administration of the finances of the Service.

In fulfillment of the mandatory obligations in accordance with the Public Financial Management Regulations, Act 2019 L.I. 2378, section 26 mandates every institution to prepare an annual budget.

Furthermore, the Pre-Tertiary Education Act, 2020, part 2 on TVET, section 88 (2) page 4, states that the administrative head of each Public Technical and Vocational and Training Institution Shall prepare budget estimates for each financial year and present the estimates to the appropriate governing bodies for approval in accordance with budget guidelines issued by the Minister responsible for Finance.

The Director for Finance at the Ghana TVET Service Mrs Stella Ntow assured the participants that her office is always available to assist them in other to prevent avoidable financial infractions.

Mr Paul Asare the Director for Internal Audit at the Ghana TVET Service appealed to the accountant to make use of the Pre – Tertiary Education Act,2020. Act 1049 and Public Financial Management Regulations, Act 2019 L.I 2378 as a guide to their mandate.

Mr Patrick Arthur a Head of Budget at the Ministry of Education admonished the participants not to spend what have not been appropriated for in the Budget.
