Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has made a strong plea to American business associations to provide internships to Ghanaian students enrolled in US universities.

He stated that a large number of Ghanaian students are now attending US institutions to further their education, and that in order for the students to further their skills, internship opportunities are necessary.

According to Dr. Prempeh, there are presently 150 Ghanaian students enrolled at the University of Memphis alone, demonstrating the large Ghanaian student presence in the US at this time.

“We have a lot of Ghanaian students who are currently pursuing their academic goals here in the US, and the University of Memphis alone has about 150 Ghanaian students now.

“These Ghanaian students need field experience through internships in business organizations here in the US to support their development, so I’m urging you to give them such opportunities”.

Napo claimed that, on the whole, Ghanaians are hardworking and disciplined individuals while speaking to the Memphis Chamber of Commerce on his US tour and he expressed that Ghanaian students work hard and should therefore be given opportunities in the States.
