The New Patriotic Party faithfuls in the Shama District have called on the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area to ignore the activities of his detractors and concentrate on delivering on the mandate entrusted in his care by the President.
“We are calling on the DCE to ignore these ramble rousers for their diversionary tactics and remain focus and work together with the MP to deliver, we the good people of the district are solidly behind you.”
Mr. Mark Ackon, the Shama NPP Secretary said this at a press conference to refute numerous allegations levelled against the DCE by a group of the indigenes calling for his removal for lack of performance.
The NPP Secretary said the allegations of underdevelopment of the district, was palpable lies “conceived to tarnish the image of the DCE and to underplay the achievement of the government as well as the District Assembly”.
Mr. Ackon also called on the Chairman of the Party for the area Mr. De-Graft Kwame Tawiah to stop fighting the DCE and rather act as unifier in building the fortunes of the party within the district.
“We are calling on the party leadership both at the Regional and National level to advise the constituency Chairman…there is no way the opposition NDC can win power in 2020 if the Chairman corrects his behaviour and attitudes “.
On Tuesday, June 25, this year, a group known as the Coalition of canoe owners and fishermen together with others youth groups organised a demonstration to express displeasure at the performance of the DCE and accused him of meddling in chieftaincy matters, diversion of premix, party disunity and no real innovation and invisibility.
But the leadership of the Party claimed that the DCE had engaged thoroughly with communities under its jurisdiction since assuming office, worked on feeder roads, ensured accountability on premix proceeds and written against premix diversion and travelled abroad to seek investors for the welfare of the district.
The Secretary mentioned that the incessant accusations, rancour and dissensions by the Party Chairman and a section of the party members were therefore in bad taste not only for the DCE but the party and rather made it prone to abuse by the opposition party.
Mr. Ackon said, “This is indeed calculated to serve the interests of some faceless self-centred individuals and their paymasters and this is why we are setting the records straight on their allegations”.
