The African Continental Free Trade Agreement Policy Network wants the free trade among African countries to advance first, by making up for the damages caused to those foreigners affected by the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

According, to Yaw Louis Afful who is Convener for the group, all those shops that have been burnt and looted should be compensated because those are investments.

He said “I am looking forward to see that all those shops that have been burned and looted, they should be compensated and African Continental Free Trade is moving to phase two (2), is yet to be negotiated. It includes investment and competition”.

He added that “now if at this stage we have not even negotiated the competition and investments and these things are showing its face then there is the need for concern so that all these things are negotiated. If such things happen in party states, what happens to those shop? We can’t just leave them like that. No! They need to be compensated” .
