2024 Election: Disregard claim by Wontumi presenter, election will be held nationwide on a single day – EC

The Electoral Commission has called on the general public to disregard a false claim by Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a presenter at Wotumi Radio that the 2024 general election would be held on two seperate days.

In a press statement issued on November 24, 2024, and signed by the Deputy Chairman of Operation, Samuel Tettey, the EC noted that the election will be held on only December 7.

“The Electoral Commission has taken note of a misleading broadcast by a presenter on Wontumi TV claiming that there would be different voting dates for some Presidential Candidates in the December 7th General Election.

“The General Public is informed that the 2024 Election will take place on 7th December 2024,” the statement reads.

Samuel Tetty also encouraged Ghanaians to go in their numbers and cast their votes, adding that the election will start from 7am to 5pm.

“Voters are reminded that voting on the 7th of December, 2024, starts from 7 am until 5 pm. The Commission encourages voter to go out in their numbers and cast their votes in an orderly manner,” he added.

Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a presenter at Wontumi Radio stated that the presidential election will be held on separate days.

He noted that on December 7, the election would be conducted for the first individuals on the ballot paper, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia., who holds the number 1 spot on the ballot paper.

He also implied that anyone who does not vote for Dr. Bawumia on Saturday, December 7 would not be permitted to vote for the other candidate in subsequent days.
