Five (5) male and female hockey teams from across West Africa are set to participate in the maiden HFS Invitational Challenge with high expectations. The invitational competition has been scheduled for 20-24 May 2026 at the Hockey Stadium in Accra.
The event, being organised by Hockey Farm Sports led by Ebenezer Frimpong, aims to promote the sport across the West African region, and to reward players as well as keep them busy.
The female teams include GRA ladies, Ark Ladies, Ghana Army, Ghana National Fire Service and Kada Queens from Nigeria. Ghana Army, Ark men, Exchequers of the Bank of Ghana, GRA men and Kada men also from Nigeria making up the male clubs.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Chief Executive of Hockey Farm Sports, Mr. Ebenezer Frimpong, said,
“The various teams are well prepared and fully focused on this challenge. They are poised and coming into the tournament with the aim of securing total victories and making themselves proud.
Mr. Frimpong commended the participating teams for their support towards the invitational challenge. According to him, the event aligns with the objectives of international hockey, and all measures outlined to ensure successful organisation.
The tournament opener will see GRA’s female side, Royal Ladies, face Kada Queens from Nigeria, while GRA’s male side play against Kada Men. Both matches have been scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 a.m.
