GDCL, MTN Partner to Promote ICT

Yesterday a high level delegation of MTN Ghana visited the Ghana Digital Centres Limited, the delegation was led by Mr. William Tetteh, MTN Chief Project Officer met the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Honourable Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and his management team to discuss the MTN/GOG ICT Hub to be hosted at the Accra Digital Centre.

Honourable Kwadwo Baah Agyemang highlighted the need for infrastructural development at the Digital Centre and Regional Innovation Centres across the country. As part of the visit, the team was conducted around the project site to familiarize themselves at where the project would be situated.

The group also toured the Technology Lab & Ghana Innovation Hub (government’s innovation project at the Centre) established to support nurturing of technology and digital ventures through business incubation and acceleration programmes to help mitigate some of the challenges identified in the Ghanaian technology and digital innovation ecosystem.

Mr. William Tetteh commended management for the Centre’s achievements and indicated MTN Ghana’s plan to collaborate with Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MOCD) through the Ghana Digital Centres Limited to set up the Technology Hub aimed at complementing government’s efforts at supporting digital innovation in Ghana.

On his part, Honourable Kwadwo Baah Agyemang expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their visit and assured them of the Centre’s commitment to collaborating with MTN Ghana on the MTN/GoG ICT Hub project and other initiatives to support Ghanaian tech start ups.

The visit comes at a time the GDCL is exploring Public Private Partnership (PPP) opportunities for its infrastructural projects and digital skills development programs in line with its mandate of driving digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana’s technology ecosystem.
